Cavour 62

A metropolitan mood, old Apulian stone arches, optical-effect floors and tropical textures make up the successful mix in a small, elegant cocktail bar tucked away right in the centre of Bari.

Overtones of New York and tropical details are the key to the new Cavour 62, a cocktail bar with an industrial air right in the centre of Bari. Famous as the city’s main shopping street, corso Cavour is lined with Bari’s most fashionable locales and stores. This venue, created by architect Stefano Carlone and designer Vincenzo Berlingerio of K1 artStudio, is part of a historic building, with a ceiling of wide cross-vaults and tall windows that emphasise the interior’s height. Small but with a huge personality, the Cavour 62 is divided into two areas, the first a bar, with a large, brightly coloured counter and bottles on display, and the second, more secluded, providing seating and a more intimate mood for the clientele.

Design plays a key role in establishing the locale’s contemporary allure, attractively combining a historic Apulian stone interior with trendy furnishings and details: the flooring, maintained throughout the different areas to provide continuity, is a crucial feature. Styled to resemble a real decorative carpet, the floor of the entrance, the main room and the washrooms was designed using the Crogiolo Scenario porcelain stoneware collection, with an optical pattern created with the Nero Tappeto 1 decor.

The contrasting tiles’ installation pattern was designed to make the space appear larger, by alternating bands in two solid colours and triangular decors, placed in alternation to give more depth to the interior.

The same optical concept was also used for the washrooms, where the two-colour floor becomes the focus of the interiors, combined with all-black walls and sanitary fixtures.
